Oh WOW

This evening (okay, so it's 1 a.m., so I guess I should say Friday evening), [livejournal.com profile] hiker_chick, [livejournal.com profile] tangerinpenguin, humilitas, [livejournal.com profile] fisherbear and I went to The Herbfarm Restaurant for dinner. Now this isn't like going to an ordinary restaurant, mind you. This is a nine-course, six-different-wines, get-there-at-6:30-p.m.-for-the-garden-tour-and-leave-around-midnight fine dining extravaganza that really has to be experienced once to be believed. And unless you're fantastically wealthy, you're not likely to experience it much more than once, or at least not regularly; this is not cheap. But oh WOW, is it worth doing at least once.

A fabulous evening in fantastic company. I had a wonderful time. Many thanks to hiker_chick for suggesting this and making the reservation.

I had a lot of walking to do today, and not just because I went to the Herbfarm last night. It's two weeks until the 3-Day, and training continues. [livejournal.com profile] fisherbear volunteered to come with me on my morning portion of the walk. It was nice to have the company. We walked over to Northgate and back, stopping along the way for coffee at Cloud City Espresso and to say hi to FiTanna. At around mile 7.5, we decided to change course slightly and stop at the local crepe place for lunch. Unfortunately, in so doing, we detoured down a side bit of hill that I haven't walked before, where the sidewalk was in poor repair. I wasn't paying particular attention to what I was doing, and sure enough, I managed to trip on a broken, sunken bit of sidewalk and go sprawling. No serious damage was done, but I was wearing shorts for a change, and I haven't skinned my knees like this since I was a kid. Getting all the bits of dirt out of the scrapes is just as annoying as I remember.
