I pretty much gave up on the nightly news from the Big 3 years ago for a number of reasons: a half-hour was hardly enough time to cover all the important stories in any kind of depth, the proliferation of "human interest" stories over investigative journalism, the rise of the Internet, and many other reasons. The failure of the MSM (that's mainstream media) to ask this administration any hard questions afer 9/11 only further sunk my opinion of the big networks.
But Brian Williams over at NBC has, at least for the moment, really started to achieve at a higher level, bringing memories of one of my favorite anchors from my childhood: John Chancellor, a man who (along with his network) did the hard work to uncover the facts, and then told those facts plainly, without spin. I'm sufficiently impressed with NBC's work and their blog, the
Daily Nightly, to add it to my links over on the sidebar as an interesting blog to watch.
Keep up the good work, folks.
