Got back into town, and I meant to blog about the various adventures that we had, but I was too busy yesterday, and now that I have a free moment, my head is trying to kill me. Suffice it to say that the farm meeting was interesting, that Grandma's funeral was about as good as funerals can be, that seeing all the family together was cool, and that I still love the Palouse country. I knew I did, of course, but I forget just how breathtakingly gorgeous it really is - at least to me. It's something you really can't carry the reality of entirely perfectly in your mind, particularly the scale of it all and the quiet.
fisherbear found it pretty spectacular, too, which was good; it's not everyone's cup of tea. We're really going to have to go back out there and photograph when the light is better and the fields are not yet harvested.
Oh, and I managed to get out to one of the family fields before the funeral and find and pick some wheat that had escaped the harvest machines. I didn't have a ribbon to tie it together with, but I managed a fairly neat bundle and it looked good with the flowers. I think - no, I know - Grandma would have approved.
Now I'm going to bed.

Date: 2006-09-27 05:59 am (UTC)Having done the migraine thing this weekend, you have my empathy. And you have my strong recommendation that you see your doctor and get the BIG DRUGS. Honestly. You'll be glad you did.
Your wheat bouquet sounds beautiful.
