Happy Halloween!
Oct. 31st, 2006 08:33 amFor the first time in many, MANY years, I did not make it to a single Halloween party. I was invited to 3 parties on Saturday, and I didn't make it to a single one. Nor did I throw my usual Pumpkin Death party; what with all the events in early October, the work schedule, and the show deadline, I just didn't feel up to it. Given that Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, that's saying a lot - but I just had too much else going on. On the positive side, a number of us are dressing up for Halloween at work today, myself included, so it's not a completely costumeless year. I debated going as Autumn (my costume from last year's San Diego party), but I designed that costume for a much warmer climate than we have here today (it got down into the 20's last night). So I came as a Goth instead. It's interesting; so far the universal response to my getup has been a complete lack of recognition until I say something, at which point people realize it's me. Given that my costume involves no mask and no major feature-disguising makeup, that's fascinating to me. I guess the sleek purple-black bob is really throwing people off.
The one good thing about missing the parties on Saturday? I was able to take the extra time to finish my printing work and hang my photo show. I've got 10 prints up, and I think they look pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. Now to get those images onto our Web site...
