Dia de los muertos
Nov. 1st, 2006 10:07 amToday is the Day of the Dead, or Dia de los muertos, as I first heard of it - a day (or part of 3 days, depending on what tradition you're looking at) to remember and celebrate your ancestors and beloved dead. I like that idea. My list of beloved dead has grown in the last few years, and taking time to remember and celebrate them is important. And the growth of that list is only natural; an inevitable result of living and loving.
We had very few trick-or-treaters at our place last night, which was disappointing. I think the combination of cold weather and the mega-trick-or-treat fest at the merchant stores down the street really cut down on the numbers, although other friends on slightly more residential streets reported hordes of children in their neighborhoods. Oh well. I can always feed the leftover candy to our photo group members and/or bring it into work, like most of my co-workers have done.
