Victory for Common Sense
Nov. 8th, 2006 08:30 amI'm feeling much better about my country today, and about the overall intelligence level of my fellow citizens. Fearmongering failed, for the most part, and common sense prevailed. If you're a fan of the idea of checks and balances in government (i.e., the Constitution and the constitutional principles this country is supposed to follow), then today is a happy day for you, regardless of your normal political-party identification. One-party rule has been a disaster for this country. Now we have the potential for some checks and balances on the runaway executive. And Twinkie and his cohorts need all the checks and balances we can put on them.
Good luck, Ms. Pelosi, and congratulations on being the first female Speaker of the House. Now get out there and lead the House to fight the good fight.
