On the jazz

There's a kind of energy that comes with being in the middle of a crunch, or during extended stretches of creative effort, that I suspect is close to that "manic high" described in literature. It's a very creative place, and a very energized place, and you can get a ton done while experiencing it. You're "in the zone". I've definitely got some of that going today, and it's something to be careful of. Because while the energy is real, I also know I'm much more punchy than I currently feel I am, and my decision-making might not be quite as sharp as usual. And of course the energy doesn't last forever, and I'll be really, really tired when reality catches up with me.
