...at least it is according to the weather service. And the fact that the barometric pressure is 991.8hPa and dropping like a rock is a pretty good indicator that it's gonna get wacky. We regularly tie down the trash can in any case, but I think an extra bungie or two might not go amiss.

My great-grandmother's hurricane lamp is filled and ready to go, various other oil lamps and candles are standing by, the gas stove should work to produce dinner even if we lose power, and I've got a nearly full charge on the laptop battery, so we should be in good shape. And the only big tree near enough to possibly hit us, the neighbor's big pine, is to the northeast of the house, so it shouldn't hit us even if it ever does blow over. But hopefully no big trees will come down. Well, except for the other neighbor's huge holly tree. I wouldn't much mind if that monster came down (safely of course, but down), if only so I didn't have to keep digging up baby hollies from all over our property.

If it really does start to blow, I hope everyone out there will be careful and stay safe.

As NordicBoy said, we'd better tie down the cat so she doesn't blow away. ;) More seriously, I want to get home and move the yard waste bin up next to the house with the other bins. At least then when they all get blown over they still have to get past my car to escape.

Plenty of candles, hot water and stove are on propane...

..but after the last bit, if I do lose power I might just decide to crash over at [livejournal.com profile] stolen_tea's or something and leave the barge to ride it out alone. It's entertaining for a while, but I have too much to do right now.
