We lost power briefly sometime during the night, but it came back on and my alarm went off at 5:15 a.m. this morning as usual. My workplace is without power, though, and the bridge between my house and my work is closed, so I'm working from home today.

I did a quick walkabout around 7 a.m. and saw no damage to our house, but it was still pretty dark then. Time to go do another walkaround, I think.

I hope everyone who lives around here and reads this blog also came through safely!

Edited to add: Well, our storm is the lede on MSNBC. The second walkaround showed no damage to the house. One of the compost bins lost its lid, but I found it and put it back on. No big whoop. Overall, the whole neighborhood looks pretty good, although there are several small tree limbs down on the side-street and on one neighbor's property. It could have been much, much worse - as it was for big parts of the area. One poor woman drowned when her basement flooded and the door upstairs somehow got closed, and at least two other people died when trees fell on their cars. I hope that was the total of fatalities. Stay safe, everyone.

We never lost power overnight, I'm glad to say. It flickered enough to trip the phone twice, but that's the weakest connection in the house. Very happy to say that I got the pieces of gingerbread house baked despite the power fluctuations. I'm planning to put it together tonight. :D
