Happy Solstice!

Today is the winter solstice: the shortest day, and the longest night, of the year. After this, the days gets lighter and brighter, and the nights shorter.

A fitting thing to celebrate, the returning of the light. :-)

Lord knows that spring can't come soon enough for me. But, for the moment, I'll be happy that my local grocery store got power back yesterday and the closest traffic light to my house was working again as of today. Lacking those was not a huge hardship for me, just a sharp reminder of how many people very near me are still cold.

Next milestone: no longer hearing the soft but insistent hum of generators every night.

Yes, the returning of electrical power is also something well worth celebrating. :-) Hopefully everyone will get it back soon.
