Serendipity
Jan. 10th, 2007 06:18 pmSo even though the much-vaunted "snow event" on Tuesday night was pretty much a non-event where I live, my vanpool driver cancelled the van at 6 a.m. this morning. So no vanpool to work. And
fisherbear needed the car today, at least until 12:30 p.m..
So I worked from home today, although I felt vaguely guilty about not being in the office. After all, there wasn't really any snow.
And the weather gods have chosen once again to smite the area with really nasty weather conditions right as rush hour started (as in right about the time I would have been trying to make my solitary way home).
I've been watching the traffic reports and getting emails from my co-workers about the absolutely abysmal conditions (many co-workers sat an hour or more in traffic and never made it more than a few blocks from work before turning around and giving up). The Department of Transportation has issued advisories asking people NOT to drive right now unless they absolutely have to.
Sometimes it really is better to be lucky than good.
