jaunthie | Garden thoughts

I spent some time working in the garden today, as it wasn't actually raining and there's a TON of work to be done (as there always is in the spring). The ground is still too wet to do any serious digging, but I did half-a-yard-waste-bin full of weeding, trimming, and general cleaning-up. I'm also running into the problem of a) not being entirely certain what I planted in the herb beds last season and b) having to play the game of "is that a poppy/mint/summer savory/fennel volunteer or is that a baby weed" when trying to decide whether to pull something up or not. So far so good, and I'm going to have to thin out the poppy volunteers in any case. And then of course there's the garlic forest...

I could really use a week of fair weather and the time to spend out in the garden while it's fair, though. I'm itching to start the peas and other early spring veggies.
