A productive weekend
Apr. 30th, 2007 07:51 amDespite the unplanned dental emergency and the general lack of energy that comes right after meeting a strenuous deadline, I managed to get a lot of things done this weekend. Friday night was the annual Arboretum Society plant sale dinner-and-shop, which I went to with
ceekayeff and neighbor P. We ran into neighbor M while standing in line to get in, and we all had a nice busy pleasant time running around shopping for plants. I made it home just in time to meet up with
monkeybard's friend T - a nice bit of timing all the way around.
Saturday started off poorly, with the dental emergency referenced in my last post. You just don't expect to lose a filling when biting into a soft, fresh scone, y'know? The scone didn't even have any fruit or chewy/sticky bits in it. That took some of the vim and vigor out of the day (nothing like having a sensitive hole in a tooth and not being able to chew), but even so, I managed to pick up some needed paperwork, find two books at the bookstore while waiting on the paperwork, get to the dentist's and get my tooth fixed, and do a moderate amount of weeding before cleaning up to go out to dinner-and-a-show with my parents.
fisherbear came to dinner, but as he and I had seen the show the previous weekend, he stayed home to whack-an-orc with RocketMan and Mole and other online friends. The show had changed a bit from last weekend, but humilitas was in glorious voice just as last week, and the parents enjoyed it very much. Can't wait for next year's production!
Sunday saw a lot of time spent in the garden. I finished clearing out two beds, made inroads on the backyard annual bed, amended the going-to-be-all-alkaline-loving-plants bed with lime and planted two peonies (1 new, 1 dug up and transplanted) in it next to the lilac, did some generic weeding, and planted all but one of the plants I bought at the arboretum sale. I was hoping for the rainy/overcast weather the weather-folks promised for the planting, but Sunday, like Saturday, was sunny and warm, and today looks to be the same. I'll just have to plant the rest of the plants in the sun and water them a lot until they take hold and/or the weather decides to cooperate. I also cooked up a big batch of meat-and-veggie loaf (my meatloaf always has a ton of veggies in it too), did some tidying, read two books, and spent some very satisfying cuddle-time with my husband. All in all, a very good weekend.
