A very good (and very busy) weekend
May. 22nd, 2007 09:04 amOf course it feels like the weekend was ages ago now (Monday having been busier than all-get-out), but it was a good weekend nonetheless.
Saturday: Did errands in the morning, including arranging for our new pantry delivery and taking one of the cabinet doors into the paint shop in order to get an exact match for painting said pantry when it arrives. Ran down to the ferry docks (ferries inconveniently not available between noon and three) and grabbed lunch from Ivars while we were waiting for the ferry to Bremerton. Spent Saturday afternoon and evening in Bremerton visiting MamaBear. Her kitchen remodel is amazingly gorgeous - and she did it mostly herself for a pittance of what such an extensive remodel would normally cost - and her gardens are gorgeous as always. Took MamaBear to dinner at the Boat Shed and had very yummy food. Caught the 9 o'clock ferry back to town and got home at 10:30, just before the skies opened up and the deluge began.
Sunday: Spent the morning tidying the house, going grocery shopping, and making chili (yes, tomatoless as always). Roo and Jake arrived at noon for lunch (the aforementioned chili) and a good visit, which we haven't had in far too long. Caught up on how Jake's new work situation is shaping up (much better than her previous one, thank goodness), how Roo's back is doing, and the general state of the world. Jake and I did a bit of garden kibbitzing between rain showers. Around 4, we left to go meet up with Jake's parents, brother, and Jake and Roo's housemate, as well as my parents, for a big Chinese feast at Snappy Dragon. Much excellent food and fun was had by all - and you tell me where else 10 people can go and have a good dinner for $15 a head, including tip? Yum! After getting home from dinner, there was enough time to do more chores (laundry) and fret about not getting around to planting the peas I started soaking Saturday night (silly me, best way to guarantee rain is to start soaking seeds). Oh well, we desperately need this rain.
Now if only every day could be as productive and much fun as this weekend!
