...and that just made my day
Jun. 19th, 2007 07:53 pmI spent about an hour weeding this evening (lovely theraputic activity, weeding!). It was a nice evening for it; mild, just enough late sunshine to highlight unexpected bits of growth, soil that's damp enough to shake loose easily and dry enough to be loose. As I was looking for any weeds in my herb beds (which are right up against the street), a car turned the corner from the other side of the street, but instead of driving on, it pulled over to where I was standing (that's taking a bit of a risk on that street). The lady inside rolled down the passenger side window and said "I just love your garden! I enjoy looking at it every day as I go by. It's so beautiful!"
I thanked her, and we smiled at each other, and then she drove on. The entire encounter probably took less than thirty seconds, but boy, that little encounter made my gardener's heart sing!
