[livejournal.com profile] fisherbear and I are both fond of root-beer floats in hot weather, but they are of course calorie-bombs. Fortunately, we've come up with a tasty and much less calorific cold treat for hot-weather days: sorbet floats.

Take a scoop of your favorite fruit sorbet (we like lemon) and place it in a glass. Pour unsweetened sparkling water (we like the lemon-lime flavor for this) or diet tonic water over the sorbet. Eat as you would a root-beer float, and enjoy! It's quite lovely, much less sweet/sticky than the traditional ice-cream floats but still a very tasty treat, and does a wonderful job of refreshing you without blowing you daily calorie count.

Stay cool, everybody!

FYI, the store brand tonic water from Whole Foods doesn't contain high fructose corn syrup. This has been your Health PSA for the day. :)
