It was HOT yesterday. It was fairly easy to ignore in my air-conditioned office at work, but home was a different story. The house temperature was 86 degrees when I got home, about 12 degrees cooler than it was outside, but still roasty-toasty, and the temperature was still climbing. Fortunately, while I don't have air conditioning at home, I do have a good cross-ventilation setup, and so it wasn't too unbearable.

Also helping in the cool-down department was the theraputic pad we got a year or so ago when [livejournal.com profile] fisherbear was having back trouble. The pad is microwavable for heat, but it's also designed to be frozen for an ice-pack effect - and we store the pad in the freezer. Just the thing for a hot summer's night; a chill pack on the back of the neck does wonders. And to top it off, I decided to reap some of the rewards of foresight (and forbearance), so fisherbear and I enjoyed a few frozen Thin Mint cookies. I regularly stash a few boxes of the Girl Scout Cookies (sold only in the spring) in the freezer, to enjoy later on in the year. And a frozen Thin Mint cookie is divine in a heat wave.

Today should be about 10-12 degrees cooler than yesterday, and we might even get some rain this weekend. Can't be soon enough for me.

Cool = good. But no rain until Monday, please. Fighting on wet grass is scary and dangerous. ::eep!::

I certainly wouldn't want to increase your danger level. But we do need the rain. Maybe rain overnight, and give the ground a chance to dry by curtain?

Well we did have that brief and bizarre thunder storm this morning. Not much rain; just enough to wet the pavement, really. We have evening shows both Sat. and Sun., but Volunteer gets soggy easily. I'm still rooting for rain on Mon. and Tues.

And could we maybe wait until NEXT weekend for the rain please? I'd like to get out in my garden this weekend and I KNOW that I'll barely even get out of bed next weekend.

I don't know about you, but my gardens surely could use the rain THIS weekend. Everything's really dry, and I'm getting tired of watering.

Double your pleasure....

Put some frozen Thin Mints on the back of your neck.
