Goodies in the freezer
Jul. 12th, 2007 09:33 amIt was HOT yesterday. It was fairly easy to ignore in my air-conditioned office at work, but home was a different story. The house temperature was 86 degrees when I got home, about 12 degrees cooler than it was outside, but still roasty-toasty, and the temperature was still climbing. Fortunately, while I don't have air conditioning at home, I do have a good cross-ventilation setup, and so it wasn't too unbearable.
Also helping in the cool-down department was the theraputic pad we got a year or so ago when
fisherbear was having back trouble. The pad is microwavable for heat, but it's also designed to be frozen for an ice-pack effect - and we store the pad in the freezer. Just the thing for a hot summer's night; a chill pack on the back of the neck does wonders. And to top it off, I decided to reap some of the rewards of foresight (and forbearance), so fisherbear and I enjoyed a few frozen Thin Mint cookies. I regularly stash a few boxes of the Girl Scout Cookies (sold only in the spring) in the freezer, to enjoy later on in the year. And a frozen Thin Mint cookie is divine in a heat wave.
Today should be about 10-12 degrees cooler than yesterday, and we might even get some rain this weekend. Can't be soon enough for me.
