It's Friday

It's been one of those weeks at work, and in addition I've had a bunch of other issues to deal with (J's health, a bout of the tummy weasels, a great big batch of emotional baggage from last August, and a long etcetera). Needless to say, I've been in a less-than-cheerful mood for most of the week. But it's Friday, and it's raining, so these are two good things. To continue the cheer, I'm going to indulge in a little silly quizzage.

This first one is moderately amusing, and appropriate to having finished HP7 last week:
You scored as Owl. The owl is your protector and guide. You share characteristics with this animal and it is likely you are very rational, moral and wise. You always try to be helpful; however this could be your downfall.

What Animal Guide Would You Produce If You Could Cast A Patronus?

Interesting that I basically tied between an owl and a stag (Harry's Patronus).

I'm also amused by this one:
You scored as Rita Hayworth, You're the one who has the most fun. People are attracted to you because you don't pretend to be anything but what you are. You know you are attractive and like to play on that - which makes you even sexier. However, when it calls for you to be serious, like Rita, you know that only hard work will get success.

comment and rate this quiz... thankyou!

Which Classic Screen Goddess are you? (pics)

I can't remember the last Rita Hayworth movie I saw - or even if I've ever seen one - but it's a fun result nonetheless.

And last but not least, something to take me back to my undergrad thesis days:
You scored as Elizabeth Bennet, As one of Austen's most beloved characters, Elizabeth Bennet represents what most women would like to become: strong, independent, and loyal. Of course, she has her faults including a stubborn will of iron and a clinging to first impressions. Overall, Lizzie is bright and lovable...something to admire and aspire to.

Which Jane Austen Character are You? (For Females) Long Quiz!!!
created with QuizFarm.com

Whee! Wasn't expecting this one. I've always seen myself more of an Anne Elliot than an Elizabeth Bennet, but since it looks like the only three Austen novels the quiz-author knows or scores against are Sense and Sensibility, Emma, and Pride and Prejudice, I'd say that was the best match. ;-)

And one other discovery: if you're really in the need for cheering up and/or a nostalgia fix, you really can find almost anything to fit the bill on YouTube. It's a fascinating phenomena.

When Hell freezes over, or maybe even after - because the chances of them getting ANYTHING about Jane Austen's life correct are abysmally small (at least to judge by the trailer, which is entirely "let's turn Jane Austen's life into a soppy chick flick." The trailer looks even worse than Mansfield Park, which is saying something!). And it's the sort of thing that will bug the crap out of me if they get the details wrong. ;-)

However, I'd love to catch a movie with you (in our copious spare time, natch). Anything look interesting? Maybe we should shoot for something after your show closes...

Perhaps we should wait until September to pick a flick, seeing as nothing playing now will be in theatres by the time we're both free to see anything.

No worries - they can't get the details wrong, because there aren't any details to begin with. They stole large sections of 'Pride and Prejudice' (it must have been autobiographical, right?) and made the rest up.
