General cookery
Aug. 20th, 2007 12:49 pmYesterday was a nice, lazy, rainy Sunday. I decided to make chili, more or less on the spur of the moment, and was pleasantly surprised with the result of a two-hour "hot" soak on the pinto beans with lemon juice and homemade pepper sauce added to the soak water. (Yes, my chili usually involves at least some beans. Deal with it.) I usually soak dried beans overnight, but y'know, that whole spur-of-the-moment thing... In any event, the resultant chili was/is really good. I'm never 100% confident in my chilis, largely because I didn't even start trying to make chili until after college, and I'm always working outside the box (no tomatoes in my chili, ever). So that was good. Oh, and the black pansy sorbet I made Saturday is really tasty now that it's set up properly.
I also spent some time monkeying around with the S2 code on my LiveJournal. I've decided to go ahead and add userpics back in to individual entries, as I've started using them more to punctuate the tone of various entries. I've also changed the overall ratios of content to pretty-but-useless free space. Feel free to drop me a comment and let me know what you think.

Date: 2007-08-20 10:09 pm (UTC)I've got some kale going in my garden, but I really need to clear out the spent summer veggies and get going with the autumn/winter plantings. Now that the rain is here, I might even manage not to kill off the seedlings. :-)
