Goodbye Gonzo
Aug. 27th, 2007 12:25 pmSo at long, long last, Alberto Gonzalez is gone. He was allowed to resign this weekend, after causing far too much damage, committing far too many crimes, and making a mockery out of American justice. Par for the course for this admnistration, except that Gonzo actually got caught live on TV. (And yet he still continued to serve "at the pleasure of the President" and "with the Presdient's full confidence"...which just goes to show how deeply corrupt Bush himself is, but that's another post.)
So what does Gonzo leave behind? Far too many acts of stupidity, malfeance, and corruption to recount here. But this quote from Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) sums it up nicely, I think:
"Alberto Gonzales is the first Attorney General who thought that the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth were three different things."
