And the answer is...
Sep. 6th, 2007 03:00 pmSeveral days ago, I posted a blog entry about taking the "What Famous Sci-Fi/Fantasy Character Are You?" quiz. Rather than just share the results, I decided to post three results, and ask my blog readers to pick which one they thought I scored out as. The results were few, but nearly unanimous: those responding guessed I had scored as the sardonic, dangerous, half-Russian repressed-telepath Commander Susan Ivanova from the series Bablylon 5. While I was never able to keep up with the show while it was on the air and haven't seen more than maybe six or seven episodes, I must admit Ivanova's character is a blast.
So is the majority correct? Did I score out as a semi-insane but very reliable, very powerful, very dangerous commander who plays a critical role in waging a war against evil wherever it is found "at home" or abroad?
Well, yes, but not as Susan Ivanova. I actually took the test twice within twelve hours, once when I was in a horrifically bad mood. Apparently the difference between me in a good mood and me in a bad mood is height, because I scored out both times as wise, elderly, somewhat eccentric gentlemen who keep secrets, kick ass, act somewhat as fairy godfathers/mentors/trainers to the hero or heroes of the story, and wield a huge amount of power that they use more-or-less exclusively in the battle against evil.
Yes. Apparently I am Gandalf, unless I'm really cranky, in which case I am Yoda. (But only Original Trilogy Yoda, I hope, as the prequel series Yoda was an amazingly stupid twit when he wasn't an impossible plot device.)
How do I feel about that? Eh, I'm not terribly surprised, and more or less fine with it. I always thought being a fairy godmother would be a hell of a lot more fun/useful than being one of the insipid princes or princesses in fairy tales. And in many ways I've always been old for my age, although I'd like to think I've still got a few years to go before I get quite to Gandalf/Yoda's age bracket. ;-)
But I do like to think I have a better grasp on English syntax than Yoda...

Date: 2007-09-07 03:53 pm (UTC)Just out of curiosity, why did you think Yoda? I'm not surprised you guessed (or that you guessed my crankier side), but I am a little curious. And who were you, other than the Swedish Chef?

Date: 2007-09-07 04:50 pm (UTC)Gandalf was just a bit too zen to be you, IMO. Yeah, one must watch out when he does get pissed off, but otherwise he's just a little too unearthly in some ways. You, on the other hand, are quite grounded for a fire sign.
Yoda seemed right because he's like the ultimate Paladin but without the priggishness one generally equates with Paladins. He also has no time to spare for people who don't give 100% to what they're doing. If one is going to be half-assed about anything, do not waste Yoda's time with it. (I think I must've been thinking about your contractor whose job you had to finish for him and the git during testing who chose not to do the assignment you gave him.)
I still need to take the test again. I haven't tried since the other day. I'll post the results to my journal when I do.
