It's the little things sometimes
Apr. 13th, 2005 09:06 amDespite the buckets of work I'm wading through, I'm in an unreasonably cheerful mood this morning. Why? Because this morning we had a spontaneous vanpool field trip to a coffee stand. Our Monday/Wednesday driver, J, was so preoccupied this morning he almost missed my pick-up point. We laughingly said that he obviously needed coffee, and the idea just crystallized: what if we went for a vanpool field trip to one of the many coffee places around our neighborhood? (Note that this is not entirely unusual; my van has had spontaneous field trips in the past, to B&R on particularly hot and traffic-laden afternoons.) We detoured down to a little coffee place that's been there forever, which I had never visited but one of the vanpool members said was excellent. And it was, too - not only the coffee, but the half of a fresh lemon muffin still warm from the shop oven (they do all their own baking) I shared with K. The impulsive nature of the trip, combined with the good coffee, lovely muffin half, and the sunshine, all combined to put me in a really good mood.
In further good news, yesterday was a very good day, walking-wise: 7.89 miles. And I saw a mother duck and her six ducklings during part of it, casually nibbling on the grass verge at the edge of the sidewalk and completely calm about my presence not three feet away, listening the the little duckling-chirps. It's definitely spring!
