What a weekend
Oct. 7th, 2007 10:14 pm- driving down on Friday afternoon/evening (fighting the GPSR traffic for the first two hours plus)
- crashing overnight at my aunt's (thank goodness for my wonderful aunt!)
- grabbing a quick breakfast at the local coffee shop
- loading up four bookcases into the van on Saturday morning as soon as the place opened
- driving back home through the incoming storm
- clearing out more than a cubic yard worth of books and a bunch of other stuff from the old bookcases and cleaning same
- moving the vanity table and chest of drawers out of the guest room/library
- moving some of the old bookcases into the library (those that fit) and the rest into temporary storage in the dining room
- moving the new bookcases into the living room
- unpacking the new bookcases and getting them in place
- discovering that the new bookcases had temporary pressboard supports underneath that needed to be removed and removing same
- starting to reload the cubic yard plus worth of books onto bookshelves
- crashing for the night at home
- moving the vanity table and chair to their new temporary home (Mom said she could take them in her guest room, but there wasn't space for them there yet, so moved them downstairs)
- refitting the seats into the van and picking up our car
- returning home to move yet more books onto shelves while cooking dinner and doing laundry
There are still books waiting to be put onto shelves, and there is still cardboad to be broken down, more tidying to do, more laundry to do, etcetera. And fisherbear and I are totally beat. But the bookcases are here, and I think they're going to be great!
