Win some, lose some
Oct. 18th, 2007 11:55 amYesterday I not only managed to pack my lunch (the aforementioned leftover pasta-meatballs-and-chard), but successfully get it to work, reheat it, and eat it. And it was a truly delicious bit of leftoverage, and healthy to boot. Yay!
Today, I dutifully packed a container of split-pea-and-veggie soup (yes, homemade, and no, not entirely traditional split pea) for lunch.
...and left it in the car. Yes, it was rescued by
fisherbear before it could go bad, but dangit! I'm tired of being this absentminded. I know why; I'm running pretty tired, which makes me clumsy and more prone to forgefulness. Not to mention that I'm usually juggling a purse, a laptop bag, and (not-infrequently) a cup of coffee in the morning. Remembering to add a soup container to the load when I'm getting out of the car (because I won't put it in my laptop bag in case of accidents) is just one thing more than I can reliably handle, so my brain is helpfully preventing spillage/droppage accidents by forcing me to leave something behind.
Or at least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
On the plus side, the cafeteria had a perfectly yummy and not-entirely-unhealthy hot sandwich special today: grilled chicken and smoked mozzarella on a toasted roll. I added lettuce and a wee slice of onion to it, and yum!
Attribution time: I nicked the above user picture (which I saw and immediately LOVED) from
monkeybard. I have no idea where she got it from, but it's just perfect. Edited to add: She didn't get it from anywhere - she made it, which makes it even cooler. Thanks monkeybard!
Mmm, coffee...
