Productive, and yet...
Nov. 7th, 2007 09:01 amYesterday was a busy day at work, followed by a trip to the local polling booth to vote. For the first time in a loooooong time, the place was hopping. We actually had to wait in a short line to sign in, and every precinct volunteer was busy. It was really nice to see, and yet kind of sad, as this is probably the last time we'll have an actual polling place to go to. I don't like it, but they're moving to mail-only ballots next year.
After doing our civic duty,
fisherbear and I continued our Voting Day tradition by going out to dinner. We had some errands to run in the Village anyway, and we didn't want to take a ton of time, so we wound up at the Ram for burger-and-a-beer (fisherbear), or in my case, burger-and-a-decaf-coffee. We ate, completed our errands, and got home by 7:30. I worked out for an hour, then sat down around 9 to write, with the firm determination to stop at 11, no matter the word count.
Well, I stopped at 11:30, anyway. I didn't quite make the 1,667 - I only wrote 1,129 words - but I'm still averaging more than 2,000 words per day. Naturally, I was on a roll by 11, and I really really really wanted to keep going. But I was good. I stopped and got myself to bed.
Definitely an interesting exercise.
