It's the end of 2007. I think it's a good time to write up a brief record of highlights and lowlights for my year:

January
Highlights: Methow Valley trip with Luthien, RocketMan, monkeybard, NordicBoy, GearDiva, and Snow Ninja; Meet Up With People I Haven't Seen In Ages Day; finish betaing monkeybard's novel
Lowlights: Almost got hit by a car running a red light; work fire drills

February
Highlights: Advent of the Monster Printer; lovely Valentine's date with fisherbear; host Chinese New Year's Party
Lowlights: dryer went kaput; Grandma J's birthday party; printer problems with old and new printers

March
Highlights: Hung my photography show at East Shore; kept up with garden and gave baby starts of herbs to Shelagh;
Lowlights: Had to work two weekends in a row; major migraine attack; sunkrux moved away

April
Highlights: Took a week's vacation; had success at local plant sales; lots of productive work in my garden; the amazing series of "Bugs Bunny Opera" days on the lunchtime radio
Lowlights: lost a filling biting into a scone; major work deadline had me running around like a chicken with its head cut off

May
Highlights: saw a banana slug in my garden; hosted a lovely Mom's Day for my mom; chili and Chinese food day with Roo and Jake and families; ordered custom cabinet for the kitchen; Ryalin came to visit; Folklife; Within Tempation/Lacuna Coil concert; made a double batch of rose-petal jam due to early rose bloomage
Lowlights: product team was pissy; lots of people sick (including me); heat wave caused early rose bloomage

June
Highlights: Saw School for Scandal with hiker_chick; garden was gorgeous and got great drive-by compliment; business trip went extremely well; experienced major gully-washer lightning storm while in NC
Lowlights: Amazingly crappy week in the middle of the month; air conditioning broke on last day of my NC visit

July
Highlights: fun Fourth celebration; discovery of sorbet floats; good garden and local produce
Lowlights: nasty heat wave; mountain of work crashing down on me; drug scandals on the Tour de France; my baseball team choking in a major way

August
Highlights: nice birthday celebration; great entertainment experiences (Richard III, Stardust); Blue Angels entertaining me while I did garden chores
Lowlights: first solo birthday; some co-workers sucking wind and making my job impossible; J got sick and had to be irradiated

September
Highlights: Festival de Lenezy; beach trip to visit Aunt K; survived the first big deadline for this product release; Mero-San's band ressurects; J's treatment apparently successful; photo field trip to Port Gamble
Lowlights: DVDJournal stopped publishing; autumn allergies

October
Highlights: the Adventure of the New Bookcases; decided to do NaNoWriMo; San Francisco trip and visit with FKAPrince and family; fun with pumpkins
Lowlights: laptop crashed; shipping fire drills (multiple); more problems with people at work not doing their jobs; San Diego fires cancelled second half of trip and prevented us from attending Ryalin's Halloween bash and seeing Mero-San and Beautiful River perform

November
Highlights: "Won" NaNoWriMo by writing over 50,000 words on my novel in November; hosted a nice if quiet Thanksgiving; got prepared for the Gingerbread party in time despite work fire drills, NaNo, etc.
Lowlights: Build team continued to suck; work fire drills; didn't actually finish the novel STORY in 60,000 words (work continues); caught the office cold

December
Highlights: Hosted Rankin-Bass Gingerbread party at my place; aunt and brother and sister and spouses all came here for Christmas; various holiday family gatherings; 2 baby showers for sister-ini-law; an actual White Christmas (it snowed on Christmas! And stuck!); giving and getting nifty presents; found out monkeybard sold her NaNovel from last year; fun figuring out what spy to be for New Year's Eve at monkeybard's
Lowlights: Grandma J in hospital; missed 1 holiday event on Christmas day; brother&sister vs. me dynamics

All in all, not a bad year. It needed more exercise, more focus on creative efforts, and less fire drills and frustrations from work, but taken on balance, I'd say it was a definite step up from 2006. Now on to an even better 2008!
