...in the 60th anniversary year of the liberation of Auschwitz, Dachau, and the other death camps, the Roman Curia sought fit to elect a former Nazi as Pope? I mean, (begin sarcasm) I know it was a long time ago and all (end sarcasm), but this is a religion that truly believes in the concept of good and evil. I'd think that a person who collaborated with one of the most fundamentally evil regimes of the 20th century (however allegedly unwillingly) would get a permanent DQ for the most holy role the church has to offer. Particularly when from what I've read about the new Pope Benedict VXI's philosophy (for example, his thoughts on women), he's not too far from the general views and attitudes of that time (kinder und kuche, anyone?). The man makes JP II sound like an outright liberal.
In other words, yeesh. I hope he proves me wrong.
