There are times when I think I'd vote for (almost) anyone who promised at least one 3-day weekend every month of the calendar year. Honestly, wouldn't that make sense? I don't know anyone, myself included, who regularly manages to get everything done on the weekend that he or she intends to. And with our busy work lives and home lives and everything expected of us as productive adults, there's always a huge list of things to be done on our "off time". One three-day weekend per month would go a long way to helping people catch up with themselves, I think. Or at least lower the stress level of the nation at large in general and me in specific. Not to mention my yard and house would look so much better...

...okay, enough with the whining. I think it's pretty obvious it's been a busy weekend for me. Much of it has been a very good kind of busy. (There was definitely a bad side of the busy, too. Go here for the bad side of the busy if you want to read about it. ).) I went out to dinner on Saturday with hiker_chick, miz_hatbox, tangerinpenguin, my non-LJ-enabled friend A, and my husband to a yummy Mexican restaurant I'd never been to before. All the dishes were good, the sauces were excellent, and my pollo poblano mole was scrumptious! After dinner A had to go home, but fortunately my husband was able to take her as he did not have a concert ticket. The rest of us tromped off to see my friend humilitas in concert, and a lovely concert it was. She joined us after the show, and we topped off the evening with dessert and some nice chat. All in all a very good night.

Also in the win column for this weekend is the walking. On Saturday morning, monkeybard valiantly emerged early and pre-coffee to go walk with me. (Truly an epic display of friendship - and I am not exaggerating or being sarcastic here, as those who know her can attest!) We covered 6.6 miles in just under two hours - and then and only then did we stop and grab coffee before continuing on for the final leg! I wound up with 7.25 miles on the morning, and monkeybard had even more. Yay us! Today the weather was even more unseasonably glorious than yesterday. So I walked 2 miles with my husband, and another 3 miles with my friend Fitanna, which gives me 5 miles for the day. Grand total for the week: 19.65 miles walked, or just a smidgen shy of the one-day total I'll need to cover every day of the 3-Day. Oh well, at least it's a great start. I can't wait for the week when I finally break 20 total. With any luck, that'll be this upcoming one. Of course, I kind of thought I might break that total this week...but life got very very busy.

Speaking of the upcoming week, though, here's my walk schedule with minimum needed distances for this week:

  1. Tuesday: 3 miles

  2. Thursday: 4 miles

  3. Saturday: 6 miles

  4. Sunday: 4 miles

...which totals to a minimum of 16 miles total for the week. I have at least two walking partners already lined up for this week; my co-worker B wants to walk on Tuesday mornings, and monkeybard expressed interest in walking again this coming Saturday. So as long as other things hold out, this should be a very good week for walking. *keeping fingers crossed*
