The joys of doing HTML by hand

My friend and self-described "LJ-Pimp" hiker_chick has been incredibly helpful in getting me set up with LiveJournal. Just yesterday she sent me a link to all kinds of fun LJ-specific tags, such as cuts and the 20 different official ways of linking to fellow LJ users. This is doubly useful because I haven't downloaded the LJ rich-text client editor or any of that jazz. Every time I update this journal, I'm typing in everything by hand - the HTML coding, the links to image files for smileys and such, and the whole shebang. Why? Because I'm a geek-freak, I guess...and I can always use the practice. Of course, that means I'd better get my code right the first time, and I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to customize this LJ to reflect exactly what I want it to.

In that vein: I haven't yet figured out how to add a "Neat Links" section to this site. Until I do, here are a few places, blogs, and other items of interest I think you might find enjoyable:
