And speaking of unexpected...
Feb. 9th, 2009 08:04 pm...there was a good half-inch of snow on the ground this morning. Maybe a little more. Just enough to look very pretty, without being any kind of obstacle to the commute.
Or so I thought, until I was standing at the bus stop, waiting in vain for the bus to arrive.
As it happened, it was not the half-inch of white stuff that prevented my bus from arriving. Not directly, anyway. It was the roll-over accident that closed all lanes of the bridge that kept my bus from being able to get to me or any of the other stranded riders on my route. I have no idea if the accident was caused by white stuff falling out of the sky or not. Given the way people drive on Monday mornings, it very likely could have happened without the provocation of weather, but it probably didn't help.
At any rate, I wound up working from home today, and was probably much more productive than I would have been otherwise if only because I wasn't able to attend as many meetings. It all worked out, at least for me. But it does make me wonder if the half-inch of hail that is currently covering the ground (courtesy of the thunderstorm a half-hour ago) is yet another portent of more weather-related wackiness for tomorrow's commute.
