Maine Mist and Almond Sugar
May. 16th, 2005 10:07 amWhere do paint companies come up with their color names? You have to wonder. In any event, after a weekend filled with paint fumes, scrubbing latex off of my skin (my hands are extremely well exfoliated now!), and brushes of multiple sizes, shapes, and functions, our master bedroom is now completely repainted in the aforementioned colors. The new bed arrives on Tuesday, and then it's just figuring out the fit and finish details (window treatments, knobs, which of our pictures to hang on the walls). Yay! I'm feeling very accomplished in this regard.
On the negative side, all that painting got in the way of walking. I managed my 13 miles and then some on Saturday, despite everything, but I came up well short of my 7 miles yesterday. There just wasn't enough time in the day. And although I think painting all those walls definitely gave my legs a good workout (particularly when painting the ceiling - what a pain!), it doesn't count mileage-wise. For the week, I'm a mile short of the training goal: I only walked 30.01 miles. Oh well. Life happens, I guess.

Date: 2005-05-17 03:55 pm (UTC)I'm willing to cut them some slack on the off-white - "Almond Sugar" is better than "Very Nearly White #117" - but "Maine Mist" is definitely on the silly side.
Of course, I'd be happy to abandon silly names entirely and order a gallon of #3D807E, if it weren't for the detail that most bright paints are out of gamut... Kelly Moore does have a proprietary color space (Maine Mist is 0.17.0.26.0.14) but it's not very useful for anyone else. Maybe they'll eventually adopt one of the new HDR spaces and sell paint online.
