Weekend roundup
May. 4th, 2009 10:42 pmAnother busy weekend, but one filled with accomplishments. Friday night was the Master Gardeners' sale with Mom and Jake and others. The weather was gorgeous, and we all got some great plants at good prices, and I managed to get home at a reasonable hour. Saturday started off early. After a quick morning workout, I started some lentil soup on the stove and met up with Jake for more certified gardening madness, also known as Yes, Really, Why the Heck Didn't We Start Doing This Five Years Ago? Despite the rain (and not just drizzle, but genuine big ol' splashy soak-the-ground rain) at times, between the two of us we finished putting in the last of the new garden beds, edging and all. It was muddy work - we were so covered with dirt and muck we had to change out of our gardening clothes just to eat lunch - but very satisfying, too, particularly when looking over all the new lovely bedspace. Naturally since the heavy work was done on Saturday, Sunday proved sunny and gorgeous. I met up with the family for coffee in the morning, and then ran back down to the garden sale (again) with Mom so she could get her rhody diagnosed (and yes, we both bought more plants). I spent the rest of the morning and afternoon doing more yard work (including planting a lot of onions, not to mention the new plants I bought that day) while
fisherbear went to see a show he was interested in. We both managed some other chores, like laundry, not to mention a nice tasty dinner together. Then it was time to make dessert in time to have
monkeybard and NordicBoy over for boozles, nibblies, chat, and a bit of long-overdue celebration. I tried my hand at bread pudding for the first time, and it came out quite well.
All in all a very good weekend. If only it could have been several days longer!
