Updates, schmupdates
May. 22nd, 2009 10:08 amI've been doing a worse-than-usual job blogging this past month. Partially that's because things have been pretty busy in my corner of the universe, and some of it is tied to the amount of time I've been spending in places that aren't wired up (the garden, the gym, etc.), but mostly I think it's that I haven't had much inclination to speak out loud, as it were. There hasn't been much "blogworthy" stuff going on, and I've felt unusually unmotivated to blog when I have had an idea for an entry.
Why?
I don't know. Maybe it's spring. Maybe it's general fatigue (the grind at work has been grindier than usual for quite some time). Maybe it's related to other focuses taking priority. Maybe I'm just getting lazy. Or, most likely, it's some combination of all these factors and then some.
Do I want to try and turn this trend around? Or do I just "let it happen" and assume I'll get back to feeling bloggy in a few weeks or something? I'm not sure. I don't want blogging to turn into a chore - that's never been the point of this - but I do also realize the truth of the saying that blogs are like puppies: they require constant feeding and care or they wither and die (or at the very least get into disgusting messy trouble).
I'm open to suggestions. If you're a blogger yourself, have you ever gone through dry patches, and if so, did you worry about it/do something about it? Is worrying about this just a waste of time?
