I went shopping with [livejournal.com profile] monkeybard yesterday on a quest for a properly-fitting bra. While on said quest, we accidentally stumbled into a half-yearly sale that featured (among other things) shoes. Many racks of sale shoes. Monkeybard, being the shoe-lover that she is, immediately dove for the racks. Myself, I'm not much into dress shoes. Between having a foot that's difficult to fit, a bunch of joint issues, the need to wear orthotics, and an instinctive wariness of "pretty" (read: poorly made and painful) footwear, I don't wear much other than sports shoes. Occasionally I'll wear my Kenneth Cole trouser shoes, or a comfy pair of flat sandals. Every so often I'll bust out the Birkinstocks. But 99% of the time, I'm in sneakers. I'm happy and fortunate to work in an environment where jeans and sneakers are the norm.

So when I say that I found a pair of comfortable, eye-catching, positively snazzy-looking heels in my size, that fit my foot (including my wacky narrow heels), and were on significant sale, shoes I *had* to come home with, shoes that I wore to work TODAY (with jeans, which they go with just as well as they'll go with fancy clothes) to start breaking them in, you know I'm really saying something.

Behold, the Sofft Becal:

They're dark brown, like a particularly well-aged but shiny penny, complete with coppery undertones. And yes, my feet were tired of them by the end of the day, but I could still walk, which is practically unheard-of for me in heels, particularly on the first day of breaking them in.

I think I must keep my eyes open for Sofft shoes in the future.

Yes yes! Sofft and Softspots are both good for comfy, snazzy, narrow shoes. :)
