Just-In-Time Harvest
Jul. 13th, 2009 08:57 amAs I mentioned in my previous post, I harvested a ton of garlic out of my garden on Saturday. It was hot and rather muggy, but the ground was dry and it was pretty much the perfect time to harvest the plants.
And then, Sunday morning, it rained. Which would not have been at all good for the ready-to-be-harvested garlic, and might have had significant negative impact on the successful curing of the garlic. (Hard to say, as I won't know for a few weeks yet whether this garlic will cure well.)
It hasn't rained as much as I would have liked, but any moisture is better than none (now that the garlic is harvested and the potatoes aren't ready yet). I'm hoping for a bit more rain before this system clears out, but I'm probably not going to get it. At least the air has cleared out.
