It is *not* supposed to be this hot
Jul. 29th, 2009 05:07 pmWe've broken - nay, shattered - all the hot-weather records here today. It's official; this is the hottest day EVER since they started recording temperatures back in the 1800's. No, not the hottest day for this date. This is the highest recorded temperature ever measured here on any day in history.
The thermometer on my back porch is an old mercury thermometer, good enough although not decimal-place accurate (and kind of hard to read). It reads a couple-three degrees above 100. The local weather station (a few blocks away) has registered 103.6. Other stations around this area have gone up even further. The temperature outside my work was 106.
My local library branch (two blocks away) had to close down, because it got too hot inside and it doesn't have air conditioning.
This. Is. Too. Damned. Hot. For. This. Area.
The inside of our house is registering at 93 degrees upstairs. It's noticably cooler in the basement, but still quite warm. The cats are not pleased, and frankly, neither am I.
fisherbear is coping just fine, though, so at least someone in the house is functional.

You can always come down here
Date: 2009-07-30 01:33 am (UTC)Come on down if the heat threatens to drive you insane. It's 79 in here, even cooler down in the Man Cave. :^)
