Half-and-half skies
Oct. 16th, 2009 09:44 amIt was dark and rainy this morning on the way into work. However, as we drove across the bridge and up the western highrise thereof, my fellow bus riders and I were treated to a most unusual vista.
Around us, and all across the lake, it was grey, rainy, and quite misty, to the point where the western shore all but disappeared.
However, clearly visible in the far southeast was a dark line where the rain front ended. Beyond that was a tangle of dawn in shades of gold, salmon, and pink, joyfully reflecting off of the snow-covered flanks of the mountain. The top half of the mountain was hidden by the dark band of cloud, but the lower half was in that open pocket of clear dawn sky, and it was just lovely.
A very nice treat for the early-morning commuters. I enjoyed the view all the way across the lake, until the pocket vanished as we travelled up the eastern highrise.
Now back to work. Yet another busy day!
