Is it something in the water?
Jan. 10th, 2010 12:24 amOr maybe something to do with
fisherbear and me as cat-owners?
Is it the kibble?
Or maybe it's just seeing M doing it and drawing the obvious conclusions?
It's probably the latter. Certainly I didn't deliberately set out to do it...much. Well, okay, I encouraged every sign of it,but honestly, it's not something you expect to occur, much less train successfully.
But the fact remains: we now have *three* cats who play fetch with toy mousies. Both L and B have been taking turns bringing me the same toy mousie over the last half-hour and change, so I will throw it for them. They then race off at top speed to try to be the first one to get to it, and fight over who will carry it back to me.
And of course, I do throw it every time one of them brings it back. Hey, like I said, it's behavior I absolutely want to encourage, at least when I'm awake. No guarantees what will happen to them the first time they try dropping a mousie on me when I'm asleep. (But I'm pretty sure my reaction won't be the one they're expecting.)
