Holy guacamole. Apparently there is a universal convergence on the next two weeks, because suddenly EVERYONE is scheduling things and I have a zillion places to be, people to see, and things to do. Most, if not all, of these things are fun and things I want to do, but I wish these events were spread out a little more, because there's no way on earth I can do them all.

Want an example? Let's look at the two days just past:

Saturday:

--get up early and nosh a quick breakfast
--leave by 8:30 a.m. to go to the climbing gym with [livejournal.com profile] monkeybard. Had an okay session, not brilliant, but probably would have been better if I'd tied my shoes properly the first time. I definitely can climb that one 5.8 in the corner, which is gratifying, because I still haven't mastered either of the three 5.7's currently on my hit list.
--leave climbing gym early (well, earlier than I would have preferred; we were there for 1.5 hours instead of 2) so I can rush home, kiss [livejournal.com profile] fisherbear, get the car, and zoom out the door for my next appt
--have a lovely massage (like I said, lots of things I *enjoy* and want to do on this list)
--on the way home from the massage, go grocery shopping for the peanut sauce recipe I promised I'd beta-test
--put away groceries, grab a quick shower, throw on some clean clothes, realize there isn't enough time to eat lunch (despite its being past 2 p.m. and I haven't eaten since breakfast), grab a Luna bar instead
--go to MedFest with [livejournal.com profile] monkeybard
--come home and start work on making that recipe I said I'd test for dinner
--have a lovely dinner with monkeybard and fisherbear, including a yummy wine monkeybard brought over
--do basic cleanup after dinner and think about collapsing into a heap (it's now 9 p.m.)
--open up the computer and put in some time working on the manuscript instead
--collapse into puddle around...well, it was before midnight, I think

Sunday:
--get up early, put on church clothes, pick up monkeybard, and go to UCUCC to see humilitas and Z sing Bach at the service. (I've never been to a United Congregation of Christ service before. The church and the service were both very nice - and included a lot of music even beyond the multiple Bach pieces performed by humilitas and Zanne and the other soloist. We sang six hymns during the service, which is way more than the two or three per service I expected. Boy, am I out of practice singing that much. Sigh...yet another thing I want time for!)
--come home after dropping monkeybard off after service, bake lavender scones for post-lunch treat, eat sandwich and scones for lunch
--change into gardening clothes, and start the watering chores
--realize that despite our ongoing cooler-than-normal weather, the garlic is more than ready to be harvested (except for the one row of hardneck that is running late). Scrap plans for going to see monkeybard perform at Medfest in order to dig, clean, braid/bunch, and store garlic for curing. Our garage is now thoroughly vampire- and werewolf-proof.
--more gardening/watering/weeding chores
--come inside to clean up and install needed program for making the prints I have to hang at the end of the month, realize that some critical data is not backed up to the hard drive where I expected it to be, and rush around getting the data moved and backed up
--finish cleaning up, pack up laptop, and rush off to the write-in for AccomplishMo
--spend several hours working on manuscript at the pub (and eating a nice gyro for dinner; must love a pub that serves gyros and cider and doesn't mind seven people crammed around a table working on laptops)
--realize that there are several more events happening next week than I knew about, add same to calendar
--come home when fisherbear's laptop battery dies, settle in, finish moving data, and continue working on manuscript
--collapse into puddle around 11

Yes, this is rather more of a frenetic pace than I usually keep. But like I said, all of these things are things I want to do, and/or need to do. And I have two creative deadlines for the end of the month: to finish the second pass on the manuscript (which granted is a self-imposed deadline but one I take very seriously), and hang a photography show at the gallery (which is NOT self-imposed and I have to make). Plus my brother and his family are coming to town next weekend for a week-long visit. Yay - but that's still more events on the calendar. Next weekend will be even busier than this last one.

Oy. Yay, but oy.

This is (one of the many reasons) why I'm not a fan of summer. Can some of these events not go down in, say, May or September??
