It's been a crazy week for me. I've had after-work engagements every night this week, and I'll be going to another one tonight. This is unheard-of for me. I'm not a particularly socially active person, and what socialization I engage in usually falls on the weekend. Not this week, though. At the start of the week, my line-up of weeknight engagement looked like this:
Monday was my mother's birthday, so we went out to dinner. Fabulous time with family. Yay!
Tuesday was an engagement I had totally forgotten about until that day.
fisherbear and I had signed up to go to a presentation of three short films, each one about a different photographer: Imogen Cunningham, Rondal Partridge, and Dorothea Lange. Good stuff, with some interesting conversation afterwards, but boy was I stiff from sitting in those seats afterwards...
Wednesday was the monthly photo group meeting, which I hadn't made it to in months, sad to say. So I made the effort and got there, and it was a great presentation by a local portrait photographer. Really nice work.
Friday (today) is the presale and dinner event for the local Arboretum society. My mom and I go every year, and it's fabulous.
So it was already a packed week when
monkeybard reminded me yesterday that it was Dine Out for Life day. Which I had missed last year, and had really meant to do this year, and... So I quickly looked up the participating restaurants, found one that I had been dying for an excuse to try, and lo and behold, they still had reservations open. Which is how fisherbear, humilitas and I wound up spending several hours (and overindulging a bit in our orders, but hey, it was for a good cause) at a fantastic restaurant, catching up and enjoying ourselves thoroughly. I was very glad I went, but oh my, am I tired today!
