Tonight's walk was particularly rewarding. I needed apples, so I walked to a somewhat distant store (1.5 miles away) to get some. Turns out they had both Fujis and Pink Ladies on sale, hurrah! Then I walked over to meet my husband at a local restaurant for a nice dinner. Then, after dinner, I handed him the bag of apples to take with him in the car...and walked myself home, taking lots of nice distance-adding detours along the way to admire the neighborhood and ensure I had my 3 miles in for the day. Gee, rough life, huh?

OK, you sound way happier these days. I know you've made some professional changes, but is it possible that the walking is pumping up your endorphins? I ask because I frequently tell myself that exercise boosts your mood (and I mean more than just the general smugness of virtue). It'd be nice to have independent confirmation.

It's probably part of it, but I think it's just a piece of the whole improvement in things in general. There's nothing like feeling tangible progress and "movement forward" for improving one's outlook on things.
