I have an idea for how each and every American can, on this day (and every other day), do something meaningful to show their support for their country:
Cut back your consumption of gasoline.
That’s right. It's something you can do every day, and every drop will help.
Piss off a terrorist by getting them where they live – right in the pocketbook.
Save a gallon and save a soldier.
Show your love for your country by walking those nearby errands instead of driving them – and enjoying the view of the land of the free and the home of the brave.
In World War II, people had Victory Gardens, where they grew their own veggies so that more commercial produce could go to the troops. In this era of global terrorism and borderless wars, we need Victory Gallons, where we grow our own independence from oil and the fundamentalist dictatorships that are founded on its riches.
All this, and it’s good for the environment too. Patriotic and environmentally friendly – something every American should be able to support, red-state and blue-state.
