If you haven't seen Serenity already...
Oct. 2nd, 2005 09:20 am...do yourself a favor: get out there this weekend and go see it. It's good, and it deserves your support. I went and saw it Saturday with a number of folks, including
fisherbear who has never seen an episode of Firefly (for those of you who don't know, that's the short-lived TV show that the movie is based on), and we all really liked it. You don't need to be a fan of the show (or of Joss Whedon) to enjoy the experience.
That said, I'm going to say a few things that you probably don't want to read until and unless you've already seen the movie.
Damn you, Joss Whedon! Not only did you kill my favorite character, but you made it pretty clear in doing so that you have no intentions of going back to the small screen (TV) with this show, even if the movie is a hit. I can see doing other movies without him, but not 22-hour seasons. He was one of the key emotional touchstones of the cast, not to mention the source of much of the needed comedic touches. I knew going in that you have issues with happy romantic pairs, but did you really have to drive a stake through him??? Wasn't that just a wee bit too Buffy, if nothing else?
Bother. I had a bet going with myself on who were the main-cast characters most likely wearing red shirts, and I was 100% right on the money. Gorram!
