On the road again...
Nov. 17th, 2005 07:44 pmSorry for the long silence, but I've been on the road with
fisherbear and Net access has been infrequent. We've been visiting family and seeing neat places, which I will update more on when I have a little more time. In the meantime, a quick series of shout-outs:
More later...
monkeybard: You rock. Thank you so much for everything, and I am so sorry your week has gone insane. It's not fair, and I hope the rest of your week is utterly placid. I have something for you.
jenboo: Thank you for stepping in! Sorry the place wasn't in better shape, but I hope M and J make up for some of the shortcomings, and please, make yourself at home.
sunkrux: Want The Big Bad Wolf to turn up and do his evil lawyerly best to scare the shit out of your psychob soon to be ex housemate? He'd probably get a large kick out of it. Just askin'. Hope you have a kickass time at the con, and give me a shout when you get back. You're always welcome to come spend time with us.- Anyone heading to Santa Fe's historic district: I'm no Rachael Ray, but here's my hot tips for Santa Fe on $40 a day (and relatively healthily for those who want to worry about it; if not, still works). For breakfast, try Zele Coffee - they serve good coffee and really good, cheap breakfasts. The fruit and granola bowl was especially remarkable, as the fruit was absolutely dead fresh and yummy (where do you get fresh raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries in November????) - and I don't even usually like granola! Bonus: the wireless is FREE! For lunch, try Tia Sophia's local fare or The Plaza Cafe's extensive menu - both are reasonably priced and generally tasty, particularly the Plaza Cafe's homemade soups and specials. For dinner, Il Vincetto's wood-fired pizza makes a nice change from New Mexican and is a popular, crowded, fun scene (and they have homebrewed root beer!), but my real tip is The Blue Corn Cafe and Brewery, which has fabulous food (both New Mexican and more standard fare), good prices, and I'm told their beers are great (
fisherbear particularly liked the seasonal special Chamya, but the family tried them all and found everything but the pumpkin beer to be worthy, according to their individual preferences).
