The biggest RNC 'spin' response to the burgeoning Republican scandals in DC (Cunningham, DeLay, Frist, Cheney, Libby, Abramoff, Ney, and a long etcetera) is to try and paint the corruption as a bipartisan problem. While I'm sure there are some Democrats in Washington DC with dirty hands, I think Josh Marshall has it exactly right:

"As I wrote earlier, one might argue that the reason for the imbalance -- with virtually all the corruption cases focusing on Republicans -- is that they have the White House and Congress. They have all the power and access; so they're the only ones in a position to sell it."

It really is that simple, folks. They're completely in power, and have been for years. And you know what they say about power corrupting...even when the folks in question aren't egomaniacal morons who believe anything they do or say or want to believe is right, simply because they say so, never mind those inconvenient facts. From Bush and his "faith-based" (non)intelligence on down, the divorce from reality - and accountability - has been prevalent for years.

The corruption in the Republican-controlled government is deep, widespread, and pervasive. I really believe we've only seen the tip of the iceberg. Don't fall for the hype. Don't just shrug your shoulders and say "eh, that's business as usual." No it's not - we haven't seen corruption levels like this in 100 years, back in the days of rail barons and monopolies. It wasn't an acceptable status quo then, and it shouldn't be now. Get angry. Demand better. Educate yourselves and others, and then get out there and vote, petition, march, rant, run for office, and holler until we've cleaned up the mess. Because it is our mess, whether we voted for them or not, and we're the ones who are going to have to pay the astronomical bill for these @$$holes' crimes and stupidity.
