oooo....oooo...the precious....
Mar. 11th, 2005 06:05 amSo my fabulous friend
hiker_chick lent me her GPS unit yesterday, to take it for a few test walks and see what I think. She duly warned me that there's something wrong with the unit, in that it can't keep satellite lock ("it's allergic to trees"). I can confirm this; even in the city, I lost satellite connection more than once on my walk home. But ooooOOOOooooh!!! Without doing more than pressing two buttons, I effortlessly tracked how far I walked, what my average speed was for the walk, the time I walked...it was a thing of beauty (well, it was as long as I had signal; it doesn't work if it can't find more than two satellites). I've definitely got to go out and get one of these of my own - preferably one that isn't allergic to trees.
Walking distance total for the day: 4.5 miles. Average speed for the afternoon part of the jaunt: 3.5 miles per hour. Whee!
