Belated holiday greetings

jaunthieMerry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! I've been celebrating with friends and family the last few days, and I'm proud (and a little scared) to say I haven't even touched a computer since Thursday night. Whoo! Still more holiday celebrations to attend this week, too, not to mention New Years' Eve. It's a busy, happy time of year for me, and I hope it is for you too.
In the spirit of spreading holiday cheer, I must share this tidbit from a local radio ad. I have rarely heard a more multitudinously misinterpretable bit of copy, and it made me and![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
fisherbear laugh incessantly as we ran through the many possible derivations. The ad bit, promoting shopping at a national grocery chain:
"Compliment your host with a superior wine."
...but because this is radio, it could also be:
"Compliment your host with a superior whine."
And even if it is the former, do you serve red or white with your host?
