[livejournal.com profile] fisherbear and I upgraded our old exercise cycle for a recumbent bike this winter. Just in case you were wondering, I love the new bike. It's easy to use, very quiet, has all kinds of nifty whistles and bells, and extremely stable. I can read a book while working out, no problem - or watch a DVD, which is what I've been doing recently. Working out to an episode or two of Xena, Warrior Princess is a hoot. I'm enjoying it so much, in fact, that I'm rather disappointed that I won't be able to work out tonight, even though I'm looking forward to the photo meeting.

Now that's the sign of an effectively fun workout program.

Hey there! :) I was doing a random blog search looking for Xena references (how dorky is that? *G*) and found your blog. Are you a fan or just a random watcher while working out on your recumbent bike?

Wow, small Internet world! :-) I'd say I'm a laid-back fan (no pun intended). I liked the show but couldn't keep up with it while it was on the air. Now I'm catching up slowly (but with increasing speed) on the episodes I missed on DVD.

Increasing speed? Is that a reference to the recumbent bike?

Btw, I don't know if you're THAT much of a fan, but if you're interested in a good/intelligent/friendly Xena message board, check out Xena Online Community at http://p209.ezboard.com/bxwpweb -- you have to be a member to post (registration's free and easy) but anyone can read. I'm one of the mods. Check it out, it's a fun place!

XWP is great work-out fodder! Last time I got fit (a few years ago) it was to repeated ep watching. It helps you get through the last few minutes of your work out when there's a kick-ass fight scene to watch, no? ;)

I, too, am missing working out. Didn't get to my yoga on Monday, and [livejournal.com profile] devinam and I haven't hit the pavement in over two weeks. On top of it all, I'm stuck in an office for the rest of the week and Monday. Bleh.

Yes, having those fight scenes really helps ramp up the workout intensity. And giggling madly during other parts of the workout can't hurt, either. XWP provides both, as do some of my other favorites (Buffy, TLW). I miss fantastical action-adventurer shows with senses of humor - wish some were still being produced right now! Oh well, I'm sure someone will get back to it eventually.

Sorry to hear you're office bound for the rest of the week. Want to try going around the lake one evening this week (weather permitting), or maybe set up a walk time for Sunday? Saturday's already pretty thoroughly booked, I'm afraid.
