Bush's claim that those photos of him and Abramoff together don't mean a thing is all over the papers today. He doesn't want them released, but only because they don't mean anything.

Meanwhile, Josh over at Talking Points Memo is hard on the trail of the story of obvious White House efforts to cover up and/or destroy any such photos.

Yeah, a picture's worth a thousand words - but you don't need a picture here to connect the dots.

Just the fact that they're getting scrubbed from the Reflections Photography website is going to continue to haunt him. Although it may be moot anyway, if (as some are suggesting) Abramoff himself has evidence of closer ties to Bush and decides to go fully public with them.

Of course, as a former Pennsylvanian, I'm getting a great deal of amusement from watching Santorum trying unsuccessfully to shed his "K Street" associations now that they've become radioactive. Of course, Santorum is political toast at this point anyway - Casey's set to steamroller him in the '06 election - but watching one of the most unrepentently fierce "attack dogs" of the Republican right try and dance his way toward the middle now that it's no longer "cool" in an attempt to fight the inevitable is very satisfying.
