...yet vitally important to all of us, was the little-reported fact that back on March 6th, the administration (in the person of Treasury Secretary John Snow) asked Congress to up our national debt limit from 8.2 trillion dollars - because we were about to pass that mark. We're scheduled to officially pass it around March 20th.

Think about that, people. Our country is more than $8,200,000,000,000.00 dollars in debt, with no end in sight. And that's after all kinds of borrowing against government pensions and federal programs. And this administration keeps giving huge tax breaks to oil companies, massive corporations, and the super-wealthy. Countries around the world are switching their banking reserves from dollars to euros - because the rest of the world realizes that this isn't remotely sustainable.

When are we as a country going to wake up and realize our future is being sold right out from under us? Why isn't this being reported all over the place as NEWS???

And why aren't we as a country holding the political party responsible for getting us into the worst of this mess over the last six years (yes, Dad, that's the so-called "fiscally responsible" Republicans who control Congress and the White House) accountable??? Oh yes, I've forgotten: responsibility and accountability are bad words to both political parties in this country. Hey Democrats, you dummies - if you're not in power, you still have the responsibility to be an opposition party, to try and represent the best interests of the country as you see them.

But it's really worse than that, because at the end of the day, we, the people, are responsible for this mess. We are the ones who give these politicians the power to destroy us. We are government by the people, for the people - and apparently we don't have a lick of common sense or gumption.
